Real English Triathlon: Swim, Cycle, Run … English!

A dream course for sporty English language learners who swim, cycle and run! 

The perfect combination: Students discover and improve their natural English language and also develop their triathlon sport skills. It’s all under the guidance of qualified, seasoned tutors and coaches.

(One/two-week options available.)

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS:
-Maximum class size: 8
-15 50-minute English classes a week
-15 coached triathlon training hours
-Classes in pronunciation, colloquial language and handling situations every single day!
-A unique task-based event organised with local Cambridge residents (a mixture of native andnon-native speakers)
-British Triathlon and Ironman Coach qualified triathlon coaches
-Training in all three sports (swimming, cycling and running) plus the ‘transitions’
-The option of competing in a local triathlon (race entry fees extra)
-An outstanding diary of culture and social activities and visits in Cambridge and England

TRIATHLON (SWIM, CYCLE, RUN) TRAINING:
  • British Triathlon and Ironman Certified Coach qualified triathlon coaches
  • The option of competing in a local triathlon (*race not included in fees)
  • Training in all three sports (swimming, cycling and running) plus the ‘transitions’
  • Advice on developing strength and endurance
  • Work on mental training and race preparation
  • Participants can individualise their own Training volume, distances and intensity to meet their personal condition, goals and confidence levels (with the advice of coaches)

Swim, Bike and Run Sessions:
Rides are between 10 and 70 miles, runs are between 3 and 13 miles and swims are between 1,000 meters and 2.4 miles (the distance is each participant’s decision).

Minimum fitness requirements:
-The minimum distance participants need to be able to do for each sport before the course are as follows:
-Swim: 400 meters-Bike: 10 miles-Run: 3 miles

ENGLISH CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES:
-A unique task-based event organised with local Cambridge residents (a mixture of native and non-native speakers)
-Unique Real English themes including British history, sociology, theatre and joke-telling*
-Classes in pronunciation, colloquial language and handling situations every single day!
-Intensive error correction and review of errors each day including pronunciation/accent
-Audio recordings of class sections for students to review and revise later
-An audio progress report for each student
-Certificate of course completion
-Visits to UK cities, local social/cultural hotspots and accompanying language activities

*Themes and content may vary according to chosen courses.
Each individual class includes:
-Lots of important language and skills help,
-Lots of practice opportunities,
-Common errors and personal error correction,
-Tips for clear, natural pronunciation and intonation.
-Paper materials containing all the presented language are provided to take home.

TRIPS, EVENTS & ACTIVITIES
During the trips, activities and events, students can either relax and have fun or do the prepared English practice tasks and have fun at the same time!

Example trips & events:
-Trips to London and/or Stratford-Upon-Avon (Shakespeare’s birthplace)
-A unique language exchange workshop with native speakers,
-A Shakespeare play in a lovely University of Cambridge garden,
-Tours of Cambridge,
-Team games with small prizes,
-Out and about in Cambridge.
